Addo has been appointed as Creative Agents for 4 Schools in Wales, as part of the Arts Council of Wales’ Lead Creative School Scheme and is inviting calls from Creative Practitioners for projects at Ysgol Bro Dinefwr (Llandeilo), Ysgol Glan-y-Môr (Burry Port), Pembrey Primary School (Pembrey) and Ysgol Llandrillo-yn-Rhos (Colwyn Bay).  Further information about each opportunity and how to apply is outlined below.

 


 

Opportunity 1: Ysgol Bro Dinefwr

Ysgol Bro Dinefwr, Heol Myrddin, Ffairfach, Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire, SA19 6PE

Budget: £8,000 | Project Duration: Nov 2016 – May 2017 | Application Deadline: 03 Nov 2016

We’re inviting applications from Creative Practitioners (individuals / partnerships / studios / organisations) to work with a group of fifteen Year 8 boys (aged 12–13 at Key Stage 3) to identify a problem/issue in their community and develop design/product solutions to it. The aim of the project is to improve pupils’ confidence and application of everyday numeracy skills through a ‘real-world’ project. At this stage the brief is relatively open to allow for Creative Practitioners to work collaboratively with the Maths & Numeracy Teacher and Design & Technology and Art Teacher and their learners to develop the project and its outcomes in more detail.

The project has an overall budget of £8000 to cover all fees, reasonable expenses and materials. The contract is for 20- 24 Days work at a rate of £250/day, which may be shared between one or more practitioners. The remaining budget is for reasonable expenses and materials towards the project. The appointed practitioner(s) will work with the teachers and pupils to develop the detailed project structure, content and outcomes.

Opportunity 2: Ysgol Glan-y-Môr

Ysgol Glan-y-Môr School, Heol Elfed, Burry Port, Carmarthenshire, SA16 0AL

Budget: £8,000 | Project Duration: Nov 2016 – May 2017 | Application Deadline: 03 Nov 2016

We’re inviting applications from Creative Practitioners to work with a group of up to twenty-five Year 9 pupils (girls and boys, aged 12–14 at Key Stage 3) to identify a problem/need/issue and possible solutions using digital technology/media creatively to improve life for people in the community/school/town. The aim of the project is to find innovative and creative ways to help pupils develop the key skills they need for Welsh Baccalaureate (namely: numeracy, digital competency, problem solving & reasoning, research & information management and presentation & extended writing skills) through a ‘real-world’ project. At this stage the brief is relatively open to allow for Creative Practitioners to work collaboratively with our ICT Teacher and Art Teacher and their learners to develop the project and its outcomes in more detail.

We welcome applications from Creative Practitioners (individuals / partnerships / studios / organisations) with a background in using digital technology/media creatively (e.g. moving image, film, animation, app development, music technology, graphics, computer game development, creative / digital media production).

The project has an overall budget of £8000 to cover all fees, reasonable expenses and materials. The contract is for 20- 24 Days work at a rate of £250/day, which may be shared between one or more practitioners. The remaining budget is for reasonable expenses and materials towards the project.

Opportunity 3: Pembrey Primary School

Pembrey Primary School, Ashburnham Road, Pembrey, SA16 0TP

Budget: £5,000 | Project Duration: Nov 2016 – May 2017 | Application Deadline: 03 Nov 2016

We’re inviting applications from Creative Practitioners to work with a class of 41 Year 4 pupils (girls and boys, aged 8-9 at Key Stage 2, 15 on FSM register), some of whom are disengaged with poor oracy skills. Some have wellbeing issues relating to their home life. Many go from school to home and back again and see very little of their locality. The aim of the project is to improve pupils’ oracy skills and wellbeing through creative and outdoor activities based around the local story of the ‘People with Little Hatchets’.

We welcome applications from individuals, partnerships, studios or organisations with skills in one or more of the following areas: performance / working outdoors / storytelling / music / film.

The project has an overall budget of £5,000 to cover all fees, reasonable expenses and materials. The contract is for 10-15 Days work at a rate of £250/day, which may be shared between two or more practitioners. The remaining budget is for reasonable expenses and materials towards the project. The appointed practitioner(s) will work with the teachers and pupils to develop the detailed project structure, content and outcomes.

Opportunity 4: Ysgol Llandrillo-yn-Rhos

Budget: £5,000 | Project Duration: Nov 2016 – May 2017 | Application Deadline: 10 Nov 2016

We’re inviting applications from Creative Practitioners (individuals / partnerships / studios / organisations) with skills in music/sculpture to work with two classes of Year 5 pupils (girls and boys, aged 9-10 at Key Stage 2). The aim of the project is to look at how maths knowledge can be applied through design and technology.

The school has an established Forest School and art studio. The latter is an inspiring creative space where the LCS project will be based. Alongside their strong interest in Forest Schools and arts, the teachers would like to further develop skills in music, D&T and applied mathematics and are keen to work with the Creative Practitioners to develop skills and resources that they may use again in the future. The Creative Practitioner(s) will also work with teachers and pupils to develop and deliver creative ways to document and evaluate the project (e.g. film, photography, video diaries, blogs) and also celebrate achievements.

We welcome applications from Creative Practitioner(s) (including individuals, partnerships, teams, organisations or studios) with skills in music/sculpture/design and who can demonstrate commitment to developing excellence in creative practice.

The project has an overall budget of £5,000 to cover all fees, reasonable expenses and materials. The contract is for approx. 15 Days work at a rate of £250/day, including VAT, which may be shared between two or more practitioners. The remaining budget is for reasonable expenses and materials towards the project.
